According to the foremost leading military man in America, the Afghan Taliban (with their evil cohorts Al-Qaeda) are going to shift their operations into Pakistan. Why? Well duh! The US surge of troops in Afghanistan is going to force them over the border and into Pakistan.
Reason #2,947 for the destabilization (and inevitable failed-state status) of Pakistan.

Salaam,
Just wandering if you were being sarcastic with this post (since sarcasm doesn't translate very well when written out):) I personally don't think they can manage to invade Pakistan because they barely have enough forces to sustain Afghanistan (and according to General George Casey they might still continue to stay in Iraq for another decade, SOFA agreement be damned!)
AA- RCHOUDH (We need to find you a shorter nickname!)
You'll find that much of what I write is oozing with sarcasm. :-)
Invasion need to not always take place with US armed forces. It can involve the UN, proxy forces, or even other means such as support of internal rebel groups.
After all, the balkanization of Yugoslavia didn't require any outside forces, nor does the continuous state of war that ravages the African continent.
So you support the Taliban because they are Muslims, right?
Susanne,
I support the right of an oppressed people to resist, under the conditions laid out in Islamic law.
My stance for or against a group is independent of their faith.
I hope that my support is more principled than mere blind support of my Muslim brethren.
Naeem, ah, thanks for clarifying that. I read most of your posts now, but missed a whole lot before I found your blog so I can't always tell your positions on things...which is true, which is sarcastic and so forth. Thanks for the explanation.
Have you ever read "The Kite Runner" and "A Thousand Splendid Suns"? I was wondering if you thought those were accurate portrayals of people living in Afghanistan. The writer is Afghani, but I don't know if he was too influenced by the West. :)
Reading those books made me so sad for the people who have endured years and years and years of war. And they made me really hate the Taliban. So when you say people can fight oppression, I hope they can get out from under Taliban oppression as well as other forms.
Thanks again.
