With everyone focusing on the death and suffering of the Palestinians, we have unfairly forgotten the plight of the Israeli citizens. But thankfully, God has blessed us with journalistic flag bearers such as the Washington Post, who have chosen to highlight the suffering of the 'other side'.
Why are we being inundated with horrific body counts and gruesome images of Palestinians while the innocent citizens, such as the dear Mrs. Schwartz who was forced to cancel her Hanukkah party due to the threat of rocket attacks, are being ignored??
"She had planned a Hanukkah party on Saturday for the children in the kibbutz. But the Israeli military issued an order for all residents to stay inside their homes. So she had to cancel the party. "I feel bad. You have to explain to the kids why you can't live a normal life," she said. "Every day I walk five kilometers around the kibbutz," she added. "Today, I didn't. I was scared.""
God bless the Washington Post for having the guts to publish her grueling side of the story. Where is the humanity when a 48-yr old mother of four is forced to cancel her daily 5-km walk????
And that's not it folks. Mrs. Schwartz pointed to proof that the Palestinians are heathens who care nothing for peace:
"Schwartz pointed at a crater from a rocket that landed near the kibbutz's office and tore a hole in the sidewalk."
How can the citizens of Israel be expected to walk on the streets with holes riddling their sidewalks?? How inhumane!
And let's not forget poor Mr. Langere, who is suffering the trauma of his community garden gone to waste:
"Langere lamented as he sat outside his white house looking at the weeds and mud patches in the communal area. "It used to be very nice. Now, it is a catastrophe. Now, you see no grass, no birds.""
No grass? No birds? Such a "catastrophe" must not go unpunished!
"From here, we send a blessing to the Israeli government and the soldiers to strengthen themselves and continue what they are doing to bring peace in the area so that we can go back to our lives," the city's mayor, Yehiel Zohar,"
Preach Mayor! May God give them the strength to ensure that the grass and the birds returns and Mrs. Schwartz can resume her daily walks.
No matter what the cost.

Who really cares about Mrs. Schwartz's little tea party anyway? Hopefully people will see through this propaganda...
Writing this stuff simply deflects the attention away from the suffering of OUR mothers, sisters and little ones...But that is their aim after all, isn't it?!
I enjoyed your sarcasm :)
What a joke! Shows nothing but the evil and twisted agenda of the media in trying to demonise the palestinians, one idiotic way or the other.
are you saying that the hundreds of rockets flying indiscriminately in civilian centers is something to be made fun of?
It's so sad, peoples' death are being compared to landscape and materialism!! peace and tranquility is meant to be inbuilt, maybe people need to get their priorities right, abiding by human rights is not hard provided that you are humane?!?!
I am really sick of the heavily-biased stories that I've seen here. Well, I am not watching much because I can't bear to see Israel praised and the horrors in Gaza mostly ignored. Your post was very good. Thanks.
Good one, brother! I like. I like
Yaa Allah! Let them have their gardens and tea parties and 5 km walks. That is all they will have in this life. May Allah swt bring peace to the Muslims and give them victory over their oppressors, ameen.
I need to stop reading the news. It is too depressing subhana'Allah..
Man. This is why I love your blog!
Great post.
I just am getting mad..I need to stop getting mad.

This boils down the old argument of proportionality. Sorry to say it but the whole question is kind of irrelevant.
To remind you, Hamas has sent over 10,000+ rockets in the past 7 years. 200+ in the past week since the end of the ceasefire that was made in June 08, and over 4000 since Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005.
Although 'only' 17 Israelis have been killed in this time from these rockets, the intention of Hamas, and this idea of intention is key, is to kill as many civilians as possible. In contrast, the intention of the IDF is to kill as many Hamas operatives/terrorists as possible. Israel has absolutely no interest in killing innocent Palestinian civilians and that it happens to do so is because Hamas cowardly plants itself deliberately inside the civilian population knowing very well that innocents will be killed when they are targeted.
I would not deny that the lives of Gazans has been made a misery and unbearable but a major factor in this is due to Hamas manipulating their own people and the sanctions that were brought upon them. Instead of helping the Palestinian people, Hamas has insisted on dragging them through their struggle through the indoctrination of the Gazan people and using them as means to an end. Under any humanitarian or utilitarian thinking, this is morally wrong.
One may also note that injured Gazans have been let across the border to be treated for their injuries in Israeli hospitals.
Hamas was offered a renewal of the ceasefire but rejected it.
Warnings were given to end the rocket fire following the end of the ceasefire but again, this was ignored. Hamas ignored warnings from Egypt and Fatah too which is why both these parties are now putting responsibility on Hamas themselves and claiming they only have themselves to blame.
Nobody wants war, least of all Israel. But when all else has been tried and a solution is still not a possibility, sometimes force is the only way to get the message through.
"In contrast, the intention of the IDF is to kill as many Hamas operatives/terrorists as possible."
When the IDF levels mosques, kills policeman (not Hamas fighters firing rockets, but the civilian police who are made up of everyone from the political spectrum), bombs universities (or sorry, "Hamas U," apparently), and makes it so that the injured and dying civilians have little or no access to humanitarian aid, then it makes it very, very difficult to say with a straight face that no civilians are being targeted.
Just simply calling everyone who happens to get targeted and killed a Hamas operative does not make it so.
Hamas absolutely targets and kills civilians and does so deliberately, I will not argue that at all. There is no defense for Hamas, in my opinion. But I really have to laugh at those scrambling to defend Israel "only targeting Hamas." Hamas is not the only side capable of propaganda.
It is barbaric and sickening what Israel is doing to the Palestinians population. Their excuse of targeting Hamas security operations has been found to be baseless smoke screen. The main aim is to punish the Palestinians for electing an Islamist government and to prevent Israel to give the Palestinians land it occupied illegally for so long. Having said that, I do not understand why the Palestinian Hamas is throwing useless rockets into Israel and give them an excuse to kill innocent civilians. I know someone would have a reason to say why they are occupying Palestine or why they are sanctioning Palestine and preventing getting basic necessities into the territories. I am not Palestinians and Allah have not tested my country with the brutal Zionist so, I am in no position to question the brave Palestinians for doing what they are doing but I question the effectiveness of these rockets and the actions of the Palestinians. It looks to me there are so much sabotage going within the Palestinians that all their efforts are nullified by their own people.
We saw what happened to the Israelis in the hands of Hezbollah in Lebanon, so are Palestinians worst than Hezbollah with all their numbers and the support they are getting from their Muslim brothers? If they are so powerless to have any effect, then why throw rockets that would cause more harm than good. Why not pursue unarmed resistance like Gandhi if you have no military power? If the excuse is you are Islamist then Hamas should probably resign for the sake of Palestine and let the Secularists like Abu Maezin run the affairs for a while. Allah knows the best but I see lot of division, spying on each other and disorientations among the Palestinians.
AA- Safia,
Thank you for responding so well to the comment by BraveJewWorld. I wish that supporters of Israel would objectively come to the table when discussing the aggressions carried out by both sides. You rightfully condemned the Hamas rocket attacks, but will they be brave enough to acknowledge the excessive force of their beloved Israel?
And of course there is that nagging bit called 'context'... In addition to the crippling blockade on Gaza (implemented solely for the purpose of punishing the people of Gaza for democratically electing Hamas), let us not forget that on November 4, Israel broke a 4-month ceasefire by crossing into Gaza and carrying out extrajudicial killings of six men.
As I mentioned in my previous post, Israel simply cannot allow for peace to last. They will find a way to agitate the Palestinians, who are unfortunately too happy to oblige.
Salaam 'alaikum.
They will find a way to agitate the Palestinians, who are unfortunately too happy to oblige.
“Anti-Semitism is nothing but the antagonistic attitude produced in the non-Jew by the Jewish group. The Jewish group has thrived on oppression and on the antagonism it has forever met in the world…the root cause is their use of enemies they create in order to keep solidarity…” Albert Einstein, quoted in Collier’s Magazine, November 26, 1938
“For some Jews and perhaps some of the Jewish leadership, the fear is that if anti-Semitism completely disappears then the Jewish community might erode or dissolve.” Stanley Rothman
“And if real peace does come to Israel, the question will be asked: Can we, and how do we, survive without an external enemy?” Avraham Burg, head of the Jewish Agency

Naeem - This post is brilliant.
What the Israelis have had to endure - geez, I had NO idea! Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Where can I send a check to show them my support?

AA- Muslim Kid,
Susie was simply extending the sarcasm of my post. She was joking about wanting to donate to the cause of the Israelis. :-)
But thanks for the links for donating to the Palestinians.
Let me ask the moderator, a question I would like to be discussed. We know those who are able to fight and able to free Palestine where the Bayt Al-Maqdis our Islamic holy site is located is fighting a just Jihad and they need to be supported. However, if a Palestinian decides to make Hijra from Palestine to let us say Syria, wouldn't that be similar to the Sahaba who made the Hijra? I know some people would argue..no ..no...you are helping Israel to take it over the whole of the holy land. I would like to ask why are we expecting only Palestinians to fight this war on freeing the holy land? If it is a holy land for all Muslims then it should be the job of Palestinians as it is the job of Saudis and Sudanese or Pakistanis. Remember the last time it was freed was spearheaded by a Muslim from Iraq Kurdistan and not just a local person. So, is it justifiable for a Palestinian to make Hijra either to a Muslim country or non Muslim country that would not kill him or his family and would let him practice his religion?
Grande Strategy: Israeli Jews Say It Straight
You moron. The Palestinians have been shelling Israel on and off for 6 years now. Israel has a right to protect its civilians against that. As an Israeli citizen I am glad that we are pounding the crap out of the Palestinians. Serves them right. Peace.
Great Sarcasm! But the psychopaths that rule Israel are unlikely to get it.
Let's face it. The problem is in the West, in US and Canada. That's where the money for the bombs come from. That's where the bombs come from!
And Dear Mr Obama has done his level best to stay on holiday while while Israel is murdering the civilians of Gaza.
What a world!!
Love the sarcasm, you do it so well!
Love it!!
I have to be honest here. I've never really taken the time to consider the plight of the Israelis. I guess I was to busy watching in horror as the bodies of ten children were pulled out of the rubble of their house. But that so obviously pales in comparison to this!
