This Good News Post is for all you brothers who have gone for Hajj or Umrah and had a rough time with the lower portion of the Ihram. It seems that the Hajj authorities have approved a new seamless trouser that can be worn underneath the Ihram. They explain it as a device to curtail the all-too-common chafing of the inner thighs.
Bravo!
Now can someone please tell me what took so long????
While I'll admit I'm not as skinny as I used to be (wait, I was never really skinny), I don't consider myself as having thunder thighs or anything, so I was in for a real shocker during my first Hajj when I got hit hard with the chafing business. Thankfully, a good brother was kind enough to share his supply of vaseline with the strict condition of NO DOUBLE-DIPPING! (was that too much information?)
But seriously folks, I can live with the chafing - the real problem with the Ihram is the discomfort of walking around without underclothing. I've been blessed to go for Umrah more times than I can count (Alhamdul-Illah), but walking around without boxers has always freaked me out. One wrong move and you're the object of a peep show gone wrong.
So it was with sincere joy that I read about this innovation. I just think there should be some sort of minimum requirement that only those who have performed at least one Hajj/Umrah *without* these trousers can wear it. I mean its only fair that everyone suffer the same fate (at least once) that I went through so many times.
Am I being too unreasonable?

Assalaam Alaikum,
Yes it's a great idea, but it's a new innovation in Islam. So before adopting this, my advice that we must find out that if this falls under the sunnah of or not. If not then as we all know that every innovation in Islam is a way to hell fire.
wassalaam,
Juned
Wow, that is a good thing! As long as the scholars approve of it, then I am game. I didn't have any major problems when I went for hajj, but I know so many who did. JazakAllahu Khair for sharing this post!
Juned,
Why should we the laymen 'find out if this falls under the sunnah or not'? Isn't it enough that the Saudi Ulema have authorized it? And if one doesn't adhere to their methodology, then go and ask an educated scholar from your madhhab of choice.
But to make it sound so simple as opening up Sahih Bukhari and looking up 'seamless trouser' is a disservice to the complexity behind the Islamic sciences. (not saying that you suggested that, but that is all too common nowadays)
AA! I'd also like to add that we should be very careful when we use the word "innovation" for the Arabic. Umar (may Allah swt be pleased with him) said that taraweeh prayer in groups was the best "innovation". So it can all be bad.
I don't have any madhab of choice except to follow the Sunnah and Quran. And we must adhere ourselves to Sunnah and Quran as much as we can. If this seamless trouser is stiched then it contradicts the hadith says that you shouldn't wear anything stiched while you're in your Ihram. So best thing is that keep yourself to sunnah only and insha'Allah, our deeds will be more closer to Allah.
